Quick Stay at the Park Hyatt Vienna on Points: Full Review

Park Suite Room at the Park Hyatt Vienna booked with Hyatt points

We spent one night at the Park Hyatt Vienna using Hyatt points—and it was amazing! This luxury hotel, housed in a beautifully restored former bank building, blends historic charm with modern elegance. It typically costs $600 to $800 per night, but we paid just 30,000 points for one room and used a Category 1–7 free night certificate for the second. Our total out-of-pocket cost? $0. I always love checking out with a zero balance!

Our stay was short, as we drove about 4.5 hours from Bad Gastein to Vienna. The drive was easy, and we arrived in the late afternoon. Here’s what we thought about the hotel.

The Welcome at the Park Hyatt Vienna

Parking is valet-only, and it was full when we pulled up the first time. We circled around, and when I got out, the valet said, “I was wondering if you were checking in—sorry I didn’t catch you earlier.” I told him it was no problem, and we waited for my husband to loop back around. He was extremely friendly, and we headed inside to check in. While we weren’t offered any welcome drinks, the front desk staff was very warm and welcoming.

The Room & Suite at Park Hyatt Vienna

We booked a Park Suite with 30,000 Hyatt points and applied a suite upgrade award (earned through Hyatt Globalist status). We also booked a second standard room using a Category 1–7 free night certificate, which we earned while qualifying for Globalist last year.

If you’re new to Hyatt, you earn awards like suite upgrades and free night certificates as you hit different tiers of qualifying nights.

The rooms were not connecting, as the Park Suite and standard room are not connecting room types. Before arrival, the hotel offered us an upgrade to a two-bedroom suite that would connect. The cost was $200, and we’d still need to keep the second room. We decided to skip it—two separate rooms, including one suite, felt like plenty of space for our family.

The Park Suite at Park Hyatt Vienna was beautiful. It had a grand entryway, soaring ceilings, and elegant furnishings. The bathroom was spacious with a separate tub, walk-in shower, and double sinks. The sitting room included a rollaway bed (which we requested), and the bedroom was large and comfortable. We were welcomed with thoughtful touches like local chocolates, a fruit bowl, and later, a bottle of champagne.

The standard room had two twin beds and was roomy enough for our needs. There were even some small treats for the kids. Both rooms were stylish, quiet, and very comfortable.

The Service at the PH Vienna

Overall, we really appreciated the great service at Park Hyatt Vienna. Even before check-in, the staff was helpful and quick to respond by email. They offered kind suggestions for connecting rooms and possible upgrades.

At check-in, the team was friendly and welcoming. We felt well taken care of.

Breakfast service was a bit rushed. Our waiter seemed a little overwhelmed, but he remained polite and kind. Despite that, the service throughout our stay was thoughtful and professional.

The View from the Park Hyatt Vienna

We loved our view of Vienna. In my opinion, Park Hyatt Vienna is located in one of the prettiest parts of the city. From our windows, we could see the beautiful buildings, charming streets, and people shopping and dining below. It really felt like we were in the heart of Vienna.

The Food at PH Vienna

We only had the chance to try breakfast at Park Hyatt Vienna, which was included with our Hyatt Globalist status. The breakfast buffet was large, beautifully presented, and served in a gorgeous dining room. In addition to the buffet, we could order fresh juices, cappuccinos, tea, and made-to-order dishes from the menu.

As mentioned earlier, the service felt a bit rushed, but the buffet food was excellent. The dishes we ordered off the menu weren’t quite as good as we expected. Still, the overall breakfast experience was lovely, and we enjoyed relaxing in such a beautiful space.

As a family of five, we’ve almost always had breakfast included at international Hyatt properties—despite Globalist officially covering two adults and two children. This may be because we always book two rooms when traveling internationally. In the U.S., this isn’t always the case, but Hyatt has been very generous abroad. It’s one of the many reasons I value Hyatt Globalist status so highly.

The Parking

Valet parking costs €60 per night, but it’s complimentary for Hyatt Globalists—a great added perk if you have status.

The Pool

The hotel features a beautiful indoor pool and spa with designated hours for children. We managed to enjoy a quick swim during the kids’ time slot. The space was peaceful and very relaxing—perfect for unwinding.

Hotel Status

Having Hyatt Globalist status made a big difference during our stay at Park Hyatt Vienna. Since we had a rental car, we really appreciated that valet parking was free. We also got a complimentary breakfast, which would have been very expensive if we had paid cash.

We received exactly the rooms we booked. Even without status, this property is still worth booking for the experience. But if you can get access to a Guest of Honor booking, it’s a great way to enjoy the elite perks without having Globalist status yourself.

Location of PH Vienna

The Park Hyatt Vienna occupies one of the best locations in the city—right on Am Hof Square in Vienna’s historic First District, known as the Goldenes Quartier. From here, you can walk to major attractions in just minutes. St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Spanish Riding School, and the Hofburg Palace are all within easy reach. The hotel also sits amidst luxury shopping streets, cozy cafés, and elegant squares filled with Viennese charm. It’s truly an ideal base for a first visit to Vienna.

Booking on Hyatt Points

Park Hyatt Vienna is part of the Hyatt portfolio and is a Category 7 property. It costs between 25,000 and 35,000 points per night, depending on whether your dates fall under off-peak, standard, or peak pricing. For a luxury hotel like this, it’s an incredible deal—cash rates often start at $700+ per night. It’s also a perfect way to use a Hyatt Category 1–7 free night certificate.

Family Rooms

You might be able to add a child to a standard room without extra charges. However, since we used suite upgrade awards, we booked directly into a suite that sleeps three, so we didn’t need to ask. For a family of four or five, you will definitely need to book two rooms.

Would we return to the Park Hyatt Vienna?

We loved the location of Park Hyatt Vienna—it’s truly perfect for exploring the city. Like the Park Hyatt Paris, this was a bucket list stay for us. As a family of five, though, I don’t see us returning anytime soon.

We enjoyed our one night in Vienna, but it wasn’t one of my favorite cities. Next time, I’d try the Andaz or Lindner hotels, which cost much fewer Hyatt points.

It was fun to experience the Park Hyatt Vienna, since I’d heard it’s one of the best Park Hyatts in the world. While it didn’t fully earn that title for me, it was still a memorable stay.
