Your go-to resource for getting the best value out of your 50k Marriott free night certificates in Hawaii.

One of my favorite hotel offers, and one that seems to come around every year and sometimes even twice a year, is the Marriott Bonvoy® offer that includes five free night awards worth up to 50,000 points (50k Certificates) each after meeting the minimum spend. When you plan ahead, this offer can unlock some incredible resorts and easily make the welcome bonus worth $1,500 to $2,500 in hotel stays.
The Marriott Bonvoy® elevated offer is currently available! Learn More Here.
What makes these free night awards even more valuable is the ability to top each one off with up to 15,000 of your own Marriott Bonvoy® points. This gives you access to higher-priced properties and lets you stretch the value of these certificates even further.
Here are a few important things to know before using them:

You can use these free night certificates anywhere Marriott has properties priced at 50,000 points or up to 65,000 points when topping them off. In this post, I am focusing specifically on Hawaii because it is one of the best places to maximize its value. Hawaii has some amazing resorts, and there are also solid options for families of five or six, which can be harder to find.
Keep in mind that flexibility can make a big difference with some of these resorts. Being open with your dates and booking further in advance can help you snag a better stay at a nicer property. The closer you book to your trip and the more popular the dates are, the harder it can be to find nights priced at 65,000 points or less.
Q: What if I do not have any other Marriott points?
American Express® Membership Rewards®, Chase Ultimate Rewards®, and Bilt Rewards® all transfer to Marriott Bonvoy®, so you still have options if you need to top off your 50k certificates. As long as the value makes sense, this can be a great way to unlock a better property. I always recommend watching for transfer bonuses, since that is often the best time to make the transfer.

One last tip for families of five or larger. My personal preference in Hawaii is to stay at a timeshare resort. It really is the best of both worlds. You get the extra space and kitchen of a villa, while still enjoying full resort amenities. It is often the most comfortable setup for larger families. There are many timeshare properties in Hawaii, and while some can be harder to book with points, it is definitely possible with flexibility and advance planning. I wrote about our timeshare experience below.

We have personally stayed at many of the hotels, resorts, and timeshares listed below because we are a little obsessed with Hawaii. I’ve highlighted our favorites throughout the list, and if you have a specific question about any property we’ve stayed at, feel free to reach out on Instagram. I’m always happy to help.

We have stayed here and had a great experience. With Marriott Platinum status, we were upgraded to a larger suite with a balcony, which was such a nice surprise. We were also offered breakfast on our check-in day. I had checked in online around 8 am and was notified shortly after that our room was ready, so we headed over. When we arrived, they encouraged us to enjoy breakfast after checking in, which felt very generous and made a great first impression.

We loved the newer feel of the property, along with the large pool and beautiful grounds. For a Residence Inn, this one really stands out and feels like a great use of points.

We have stayed at this property and loved it. The grounds are expansive and beautiful, and honestly compare well to the Hyatt Regency Maui. Being beachfront is a huge plus, and we really enjoyed the beach walk pathway. It is also right next door to Whalers Village, which makes the location hard to beat.

Availability here is usually very limited, and when it does show up, it tends to be scarce. I was able to find a few two-night groupings a couple of months out in 2026. I am including this property because it offers two-bedroom options, which can be a huge win for families.
We stayed here in 2021 with my uncle, who invited us to join him after he booked using his Marriott timeshare. He has since passed away, so this property holds a lot of special memories for us. We have stayed at several Marriott timeshares over the years, mostly by attending timeshare presentations in exchange for discounted stays. It is something we do less often now, but it can still be a great deal if you are open to it.

We stayed here in August 2021 on a girls’ trip and were upgraded to a one-bedroom with Marriott Platinum status. While the upgrade was nice, I personally would not return since the location and beachfront were not great compared to other options.

We stayed here in 2009 with a mixed stay between Big Island and Maui for our one-year anniversary. I remember it being beautiful at the time, but I’m sure it’s changed a lot in 17 years!

If Hawaii has been on your list, this offer is one of the best ways to make it happen without paying resort prices out of pocket. When used strategically, these five free night certificates can easily cover stays worth $2,500 to $3,000, especially at high-end Hawaii resorts where nightly rates add up fast. With a little planning and flexibility, this single offer can turn into an unforgettable five-night Hawaii vacation using mostly points. If you have been waiting for the right time to book Hawaii, this is one of those rare opportunities where the value truly speaks for itself.
